![]() ![]() Landfills pollute our world, their presence is unsightly and invasive, yet we seem to have no other solution.Īccording to Environment America, “In 2018 alone, America threw out over 292 million tons of municipal solid waste,” (Pg 1). Three that will have a significant, positive impact on our planet are limiting personal consumption of retail clothing and unnecessary merchandise, reducing individual CO2 emissions, and simply using your voice.Īn awful stench meets your nose, your eyes begin to water, and you wonder what could be causing this? Then you turn around and see mounds upon mounds of rotting garbage, otherwise known as a landfill. There are many ways you can give back to the earth. ![]() We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” We can achieve this by following the philosophy in our everyday lives that states: “Treat the earth well: It was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We must do something to reverse the damage we have caused. The habitats of numerous species are melting and threatening to force those animals into extinction. This is a wake-up call to people all over the world. ![]() “Arctic sea ice has thinned significantly over the past half century, and its extent has declined by about 10 percent in the past 30 years” (National Geographic 1).
